There are 2 large double bedrooms and 2 shower rooms;
The master bedroom has a super-king (6 foot wide ) double bed and an en-suite shower room.
The second bedroom has a king size 5ft double bed, and a single bed. Please note that we do not allow sleeping on the sofas.
Thus we can accommodate up to 5 adults, easily, but do not allow more than that (babies excepted – we provide a cot and high chair free).
You will have ample parking spaces, a sheltered outside terrace with table and eating/sitting space and a little bit of peace and quiet.
Owl Barn is usually well stocked; with basics such as teas, coffee, and other simple cooking needs etc, a wide screen smart TV, DVD, Humax TV recorder, radio HiFi/CD sound system, and around 20+ meg Wifi, books and magazines to browse.
Whether your stay (minimum of 2 nights) is for family, friends or a romantic weekend get away, you could not ask for a more delightful retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life, and you are within seconds of quiet countryside walks which can be as challenging as you wish; a stroll around the farm or on sheltered roads and footpaths, or up to the ridge on the top of Fforest, the nearest hill top of the Cambrian range at about 1200 feet.
All without using the car.
This is a stylish warm and peaceful building with underfloor heating throughout, supplied by an air source heat pump.
It is well appointed, quiet and has lovely extensive countryside views and a sheltered terraced outside area to eat al fresco or just sit quietly.
There is parking for numerous cars.

There is a very quiet minor road running past the barn so walks with great views and without getting your shoes muddy are possible from the doorstep too.
Owl Barn has under floor central heating with oak flooring in the main, tiled floor in the kitchen, and the shower rooms.

There is a separate shower room, which is spacious and has room for a wheel chair, has a loo and large wet room type shower with no step into the shower.
The kitchen is a chefs paradise; large with a breakfast bar island that seats 4.
Stylish and well fitted, equipment includes; electric double oven, grill and large ceramic hob with extractor fan, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle, toaster, cafetiere, whizzer and all the usual cooking utensils and pans etc. Superb views over the surrounding countryside.
Fresh herbs for you to pick: fennel, chives, thyme, sage and mint across the yard in raised beds.
Ironing board, iron (and even soft water for the iron) and a hairdryer are all provided.
Living Room: Spacious sunny lounge with lovely outlook, 2 comfortable 3-4 seater sofas. approx. 20+ meg WiFi, smart TV with Humax recorder, DVD player, CD/radio, mP3/iPod connection. Extending dining table that can seat up to 10.
A beautiful room with exposed stone wall and beams that is very relaxing.
The corridor leading to the bedrooms and main shower room/ loo is pleasantly wide as befits the space.
Towels and linen; professionally laundered, quality cotton sheets, duvet covers, towels, hand soaps and shampoo are provided at the start of your stay, and changed weekly for longer stays.
Bring your own linen for the cot please.
Cleaning; The property is cleaned prior to your arrival, and potentially weekly, with a linen change, for longer stays.
Amenities/Facilities: ceramic hob, double oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, washing line and drying rack, iron & ironing board, smart TV with an associated Humax hard drive programmable recorder, compact HiFi that you can easily connect your phone or ipod to with a provided cable, internet access ( WiFi speed is a healthy 20+ meg approx.), comfortable underfloor central heating via an air source heat pump, board games, books, CD’s & DVD’s.

Guests have the whole of Owl Barn and the terraced outside area with tables and seating to themselves, along with several parking spaces.
You are welcome to roam across the 166 acres of Penygaer farm (maps provided), which has several delightful spots for picnics, farm walks, woodland and some wonderful views.
So bring your wellies or walking boots, coats and binoculars.
You may see Red Kites, buzzards, sparrow hawks, starlings, swallows, wagtails, cuckoos, woodpeckers, crows, tits, finches and probably lots of other birds and even, perhaps, hear or see the owl that we named the barn after!
See the moon rise through the trees, or gaze in awe at the Milky Way with the clear and dark night skies that we have.
Squirrels, badgers, hares, hedgehogs, sheep and cows as well as the occasional fox and feral cat too.
Maybe the odd low flying fast jet, or a slow Hercules hanging between the valley sides, possibly even below where you are standing, which is always impressive, if loud!
Cwcw Barn which sleeps up to 6, is another holiday let property on the farm and is attached at right angles to Owl Barn.
I live in the main farmhouse which is across the yard but you probably will not see me much at all.
They are screened from each other when using the terraces outside, and you won’t be able to hear almost any sound from Cwcw Barn internally.

All the main UK mobile networks have pretty good 4G coverage, EE being very good, but you may find the odd dead spot inside, due to the thickness of the stone walls. Vodafone & O2 are the worst for that, but there is a signal in most rooms, and outside, of course.
The WiFi speed at approximately 20+ meg is healthy enough to stream videos etc, and we have a Netflix subscription so you will be spoilt for choice with films & iPlayer etc
